Dungeon Heist

Steal back your Legendary Staff from the evil skeletons who control the castle's dungeon.

Entry for the 2025 Dungeon Crawler Jam.

Prelude

After a night of revelry at the local inn, you discover that evil skeletons from the castle's dungeon have stolen your Legendary Staff. Driven by family honor and a thirst for adventure, you embark on a perilous quest to reclaim your prized artifact.

Objective

Navigate the treacherous dungeon, battle the evil skeletons, and retrieve the Legendary Staff. Survive the dangers and escape back to the dungeon entrance with the staff in hand.

Controls

The TAB key allows for you to interact with objects (like doors, torches, chests, vendors).

Action Bar

Key	Spell Name	Description
1	Melee Attack	Deals 25% of your attack power to enemy in melee range. 1 second cooldown.
2	Fireball	Launch a fire ball that deals  100% of your attack power in front of you.  Costs 5 mana. 1 second cooldown.
3	Chicken	Morph an enemy in melee range in front of you into a chicken.  Costs 5 mana and lasts 5 seconds.  15 second cooldown.  Allows passage through an enemy.
4	Heal	Heal yourself for 100% your of attack power. Costs 5 mana. 1 second cooldown.
5	Fire Shield	Cast a fire shield that makes you immune to damage for 3 seconds.  Deals 100% of your attack power per second to enemy in front of you. Costs 10 mana.  On a long 30 second cooldown.  This is your main DPS cooldown, so use it at every opportunity.

Health Potions: Health Potions restore 10 health.  Can carry a maximum of 3.  Can be purchased at the vendor in the starting area for 10 gold each.  Mouse click red potion icon on the action bar by the red health sphere on the left.

Mana Potions: Mana Potions restore 20 mana.  Can carry a maximum of 3.  Can be purchased at the vendor in the starting area for 20 gold each.  Mouse click blue potion icon on the action bar by the blue mana sphere on the right.

Gear and Stats

Make sure you equip new gear as better stats translate into more damage output.  Click the chest icon on the Micro Menu to open you gear and backpack.  Drag the new piece of gear into the appropriate gear slot, or just right click on the new item in your backpack.

Hints

• Mana management is key.  You regen 5 mana every 5 seconds, so every 5 seconds you can cast a Fireball, or Heal, or Polymorph Chicken.
• Purchase mana potions and use them.
  
• Purchase health potions and use them.
  
• Enemies have more health and do more damage the deeper in the dungeon you travel.
• Use your Fire Shield ability on every cooldown, as it does a lot of damage, makes you immune, and is a relatively cheap spell.  Make sure you continue to melee attack while you are immune.
• You passively regen health and mana, so running away is a good option when things are looking dire.
• There is superior gear spread throughout the dungeon.  Search every pathway.  Always equip superior gear.
• You can shut doors on your enemies.
• Use the Micro Menu at the bottom right to see your Backpack and Gear, Skills Tree, Help Menu and the Pause Menu.
